International Symposium on Coal Mine Gas Extraction and Utilization in Southwest China Held

Sichuan DKT Energy Technology Co., Ltd.( A subsidiary of Hydrexia (China))

From October 28 to 30, 2013, the International Symposium on Coal Mine Gas Drainage and Utilization in Southwest China was held in Guiyang. The symposium was part of an international promotion project for the commercial utilization of coal mine gas in Southwest China, jointly funded by the UK’s Strategic Prosperity Fund, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Guizhou Provincial Department of Environmental Protection, and implemented by the Guizhou Provincial Center for International Environmental Cooperation. Some 50 domestic and international delegates, including representatives from the United Kingdom, the United States, national-level research institutions, as well as relevant government departments, coal enterprises, research institutes, and gas-development companies from various provinces and cities in Southwest China, gathered in Guiyang to discuss new technologies, methods, and approaches for coal mine gas drainage and utilization.

Zhai Chunbao, a member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Environmental Protection; Fu Yeqiu, Vice Chairwoman of the Guizhou Provincial Women’s Federation and Director of the Division for Addressing Climate Change at the Guizhou Provincial Development and Reform Commission; Chen Fuqing, Deputy Director of the Guizhou Provincial Coal Mine Safety Administration; Anne Rachel, Second Secretary for Energy at the British Embassy in China; Bian Xiran, Deputy Consul at the U.S. Consulate General in Chengdu; and Ramond Pichler, Chair of the UN Economic Commission for Europe’s Expert Committee on Methane, among others, attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

The primary objective of this project is to build upon the previously implemented China–U.S. Guizhou Province Coal Mine Methane Promotion Project, with the aim of advancing the commercialization of coal mine methane utilization in the Southwest region. By doing so, coal mine methane will be utilized more extensively and effectively, thereby increasing energy supply, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and playing a proactive role in these efforts.

Our company’s Chief Engineer Yu Lanjing and Manager Xia Zehua attended this seminar.
