Hunan Liansteel Desulfurization Project

Hunan Valin Liansteel Thin Plate Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Liansteel) is located in central Hunan Province, at the intersection of the Xiangqian Railway, the Luozhan Railway, the Shangrui Expressway, and the Tai’ao Expressway. Since its establishment in 1958, Liansteel has undergone nearly half a century of trials and tribulations, steadily growing and strengthening. Since the Tenth Five-Year Plan period, Liansteel has invested over RMB 10 billion in large-scale technological upgrading, completing the hot-rolled thin plate project—designated as a key national project funded by the fourth tranche of treasury bonds—along with its supporting facilities. For many consecutive years, Liansteel has been ranked among the Top 500 largest industrial enterprises in China, is one of the 300 industrial enterprises receiving priority state support for development, and serves as a demonstration unit for the application of CIMS under the national “863” High-Tech Research and Development Program. Over recent years, with the goals of building a “Clean Liansteel,” improving environmental quality, and achieving efficient energy utilization, Liansteel has maintained the effective operation of its ISO 14001 environmental management system, rigorously enforced the “three simultaneous” policy for new, expanded, and renovated projects in conjunction with environmental protection measures, focused on controlling smoke and dust emissions from the ironmaking front-end systems and on the comprehensive utilization of sludge, waste slag, and wastewater, accelerated the phase-out of outdated facilities, and promoted the renewal and upgrading of energy-saving technologies and equipment. In April 2010, Sichuan Dakete Energy Technology Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. for desulfurization technology related to the renovation and expansion of No. 3 coke oven and associated chemical recovery systems. On May 6, the Liansteel Desulfurization Project Team, led by Project Manager Wang Anhua, officially commenced work at the Liansteel desulfurization site. Upon arrival at the site, the Desulfurization Project Team coordinated closely with the construction department of the No. 3 Coke Oven and Chemical Recovery Systems Renovation and Expansion Project. To ensure timely project completion, the team developed a detailed construction network schedule, organized construction plans, and conducted design, construction, and safety briefings. After more than four months of intensive construction, the main equipment has now been installed and is ready for commissioning. Work is currently underway on the installation of internal tower components and packing materials, with full completion expected by mid-November.
