In the ammonia synthesis process, the shift gas produced in the shift section contains a certain amount of CO. 2 (18% ~35%), these CO must be removed. 2 , which are generally classified into two major categories: dry and wet methods. The wet method can be further divided into chemical absorption, physical absorption, and combined physical–chemical absorption. The dry method is pressure swing adsorption, which is used to remove CO from shift gas. 2 , it has the following notable advantages:
1 , low energy consumption. PSA operates at ambient temperature, unlike NHD. Compared with the low-temperature methanol wash process, this method eliminates the energy consumption associated with refrigeration; it also does not require steam, thereby reducing the thermal and cold-related inefficiencies inherent in the NHD and low-temperature methanol wash processes, as well as addressing certain design and operational shortcomings in the process flow.
2 1. Low capital investment and low operating costs. PSA is a dry purification process with a simple decarbonization flow sheet, eliminating the need for liquid-solvent regeneration and dehydration systems. The adsorbent has a long service life, typically exceeding ten years. The operation involves no liquid phases, resulting in zero solvent loss and no equipment corrosion.
3 The unit is computer-controlled, with automatic switching of the adsorption towers and automated fault diagnosis, ensuring convenient operation and faster, simpler start-up and shutdown compared with other methods. Maintenance is straightforward, requiring minimal downtime for overhauls, which results in a high plant availability. The unit exhibits strong adaptability to variations in feed gas impurity levels and pressure, with robust control capabilities, wide operational flexibility, and an extensive adjustment range. In the event of a malfunction or when it becomes necessary to adjust the processing capacity, the unit can be switched to different operating modes as required, thereby avoiding full-unit shutdown due to minor faults and minimizing adverse impacts on production.
4 1. High equipment reliability. Pressure swing adsorption units typically have only the programmable control valves as moving parts, and such valves—both domestically and internationally—are currently patented products characterized by long service life and low failure rates.
5 1. The pressure swing adsorption unit has a small footprint and is easy to expand; simply adding additional adsorption towers and programmable control valves is sufficient to scale up the PSA system.

High-Efficiency Helium Purification and Crude Helium Recovery Technology
For many years, Dakote has been dedicated to the development and application of helium extraction technologies, providing turnkey systems for helium recovery projects that have operated efficiently, safely, and reliably to this day. Specifically targeting helium-bearing feed streams such as natural gas and boil-off gas (BOG), the company has independently developed a patented ambient-temperature separation process for producing high-purity helium. Compared with conventional cryogenic helium separation technology, this approach offers greater operational convenience and significantly reduced energy consumption.
Hydrogen Production Technology
Hydrogen, as the cleanest green fuel, was officially classified as an energy source by the National Energy Administration on April 10, 2020, heralding an explosive surge in demand for hydrogen energy.
In response to the compositional characteristics of syngas generated during the clean, fractionated utilization of modern coal chemical processes and the associated application requirements, a comprehensive integrated technology for syngas separation and purification has been successfully developed. This technology encompasses pre-treatment via temperature swing adsorption (TSA) for impurity removal, sulfur-tolerant wide-temperature shift conversion, organic sulfur hydrolysis, water scrubbing for ammonia removal, MDEA-based desulfurization and decarbonization, fine desulfurization and dechlorination, catalytic deoxygenation, acid-gas desulfurization and sulfur recovery, PSA-based hydrogen enrichment, PSA-based methane concentration, PSA-based CO concentration, and membrane separation. The technology has been successfully implemented in several large-scale coal chemical projects across China and has received unanimous praise from users.
