Hydrogen, as the cleanest green fuel, has been listed in the energy category by the National Energy Administration since April 10, 2020, and the explosive growth in demand for hydrogen energy is around the corner. DKT has advanced hydrogen production technologies, such as hydrogen production by steam methane reforming (SMR), hydrogen production from coal gas, and hydrogen production by methanol cracking, which can meet the needs of users for small-, medium- and large-scale hydrogen, and the purity of hydrogen product can meet the chemical synthesis grade, semiconductor grade, fuel cell grade and other hydrogen index requirements.

 

1、Hydrogen production by SMR

In terms of process technologies and equipment for hydrogen production by SMR, DKT has made a lot of optimization and improvement, including the structure of reformer, desulfurization system, shift system, decarbonization and PSA purification system, and comprehensive heat recovery system. The overall investment and energy consumption of the hydrogen production plant are obviously lower than those of conventional technologies.

 

Technical features and advantages:

- Applicable for hydrogen production from natural gas, shale gas, coalbed methane, biomass gas, LPG, light oil and other raw materials;

- Advanced and proven hydrogen production process, reasonable plant configuration and low overall investment;

- The structural layout of the reformer is fully optimized, and the operation is safe and efficient;

- The decarbonization and PSA purification system has high hydrogen recovery, reasonable and sufficient waste heat utilization and low operating cost;

- Easy process operation and high degree of automation;

- The hydrogen production plant can be modularized, integrated, or skid-mounted according to different hydrogen production capacities, with reasonable layout and small footprint;

- Low nitrogen combustion control technology is adopted, and the vent gas meets the requirements of environmental protection.

 

2、Hydrogen production from coal gas

Hydrogen production from coal is the most economical way at present, which is suitable for large-scale hydrogen production. Waste gas, water gas, syngas, coke oven gas, etc. are obtained from coal through dry distillation, gasification or other processes, and then are removed of impurities (benzene, naphthalene, tar, sulfur, etc.) by pretreatment, finally the high-purity hydrogen product is obtained by purification (such as wet decarbonization, PSA and further purification of hydrogen).

 

Technical features and advantages:

- Applicable for large-scale hydrogen production from all kinds of coal gas with the coal as raw material;

- Advanced and proven hydrogen production process, reasonable plant configuration and low overall investment;

- Highly integrated purification process. High-purity hydrogen and recovery can be achieved with a low cost;

- Easy process operation and high degree of automation.

 

3、Hydrogen production from methanol

Hydrogen production from methanol is applicable for small- and medium-sized hydrogen plants with no raw materials. The cost is higher than that of hydrogen production from coal gas or by SMR, but it is relatively flexible. DKT can provide different clients with advanced complete hydrogen production plant from methanol.

- Advanced and proven process for hydrogen production from methanol, and safe and reliable operation;

- Hydrogen production load can be flexibly adjusted to meet the different needs of users;

- Simple hydrogen production process and small footprint;

- Easy process operation and high degree of automation. Remote monitoring and unattended operation can be realized;

- It is optional to incorporate PSA decarbonization unit to have the byproduct food-grade CO2 for sale, and the desorbed gas from PSA purification can be pressurized and return to further reduce methanol consumption.
